About this ebook

Jenna Alton was once an FBI agent who would stop at nothing to put those who hurt the innocent behind bars. An addictive short-read about how she became Black Rock Falls’ most loved sheriff.

He grabs at her hair, pulling hard. She doesn’t scream like he wants her to. Instead, she grits her teeth and waits for her chance to escape. Then she runs harder than she has ever run in her life. As she hears his angry footsteps gaining on her, she prays that she makes it out of there alive…

Undercover FBI agent Jenna Alton has been playing wife to dangerous criminal husband Michael Carlos for four years. Tonight she plans to make her escape. But as she gathers her belongings together, she hears something that stops her in her tracks – he’s taken a young girl called Mandy, and she’s being held somewhere close. Jenna knows what she must do – find the child and get her to safety – even if it means risking her own life.

As Michael hosts a party at their secluded home, Jenna pretends to play his doting wife, whilst desperately searching for Mandy. She takes a deep breath as she walks past her husband’s office door. If he catches her, he’ll kill her.

Jenna’s already sacrificed so much, but innocent lives will be lost if she doesn’t leave the house tonight. With the clock ticking, can Jenna save the innocent little girl and get them both out alive?

An absolutely unputdownable 150-page read from USA Today bestselling author D.K. Hood. If you’re a fan of Lisa Regan, Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot, you will love this gripping read.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW Review for 'Don't Look Back' by DK Hood. Read and reviewed via NetGalley for DK Hood, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous Publication date 8th February 2022. This is the third book I have read by this author. It is also the origin book in the 'Detective Kane and Alton' series but can be read as a standalone. I have previously read 'Cross My Heart' (book twelve in the series) and 'Fallen Angel' (book thirteen in the series) and which I highly recommend. I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that 'If you’re a fan of Lisa Regan, Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot, you will love this gripping read.' I am a huge fan of all three of those authors so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of DK Hood and if this is half as good as 'Cross My Heart' and 'Fallen Angel' it is sure to be a page turning read. I must admit I was

(4.5) Thoroughly enjoyed getting to see how Jenna came to Black Rock Falls. I love this series and it has some of the creepiest criminals hiding in plain sight so to speak, looking like your neighbor. To see how Jenna came to be fit in 100% of Book 1, with the acting sheriff, the fireman, the mayor, it all connected. What she endured beforehand was, well like Kane said. I can't believe you did that, lived that and the DEA approved it. Another fact of sacrifice one for a group. Her hesitation when it came time to decide on her future. She did it, she was there, she helped take them down, and now you want to remove her existence. Well done. And Rowley, yes we meet Rowley for the first time and certainly turned my thoughts around there. Anyone else want to yell *hold on, you will have a fantastic medical examiner soon *, or something to that effect? I am soooo looking forward to Pray For Mercy. We now have the back ground for both Kane and Jenna, we can move forward and strengthen their relationship as they deal with psycho after psycho. Thank you for the arc, I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.
