Hi Everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your July! I just returned from a week at the seaside for some much needed R&R and I’m all ready to share with you the new Build-A-Flower from Altenew – and the Fashion Monger Dahlia you may remember from July’s Paint-A-Flower is raising her beautiful head again. I created two cards with today’s set, originally planning one, but stamping more of the main floral than I needed, with one left owner to create that white card! I stamped the layers of the main flower using the Martian Terrain set of inks. I repeated each layer four times, using my MISTI to keep everything lined up and but moving quite quickly. I also added a few white gel pen dots in the centre.
I used pale blue greens for the leaves and stamped four of these. I then fussy cut out the florals and leaves rather than than use the coordinating dies as I didn’t want the white border.
For my first card, I dry embossed the Daisy Bed 3D embossing folder on Navy cardstock and then ran a white ink pad slightly over the top to create this fun frosted look. I then arranged. the flowers and leaves over the top with foam tape for dimension. For the sentiment, I heat embossed the ‘For You’ onto more Navy cardstock and fussy it cut it out then layered over the top to finish.
For the second card, I actually added some alcohol marker for contrast on the flower. I wanted to keep this one pretty clean and simple. I stamped the leaf outlines in Honey Drizzle directly onto the white card panel, then layered the flower over the top with foam tape.
To finish, I stamped the sentiment in Honey Drizzle with a touch of Burnt Red and added some coordinating Nuvo Drops to finish!

I really love both of these cards! The dahlias are beautiful, of course; but I’m also in love with the dry embossed background lightly inked with white. This is stunning! Also, just using the outline leaves on the white card is a beautiful touch! Thanks for the inspiration!

What’s not to love about this card! I especially like the the embossing folder background with the white ink over top. I’ll have to remember that technique. The leaves look so realistic. I have to figure out what dry embossing is about! You’re expanding my technique library.🤗
