Our colleague Howard Lewis, Business Lead in Central Region, has recently been granted Freedom of the City of London! 💂 We caught up with Howard to find out a bit more about what this means, and how it came to be. Howard says: “The Freedom of the City” is an honour bestowed by a municipality upon a valued member of the community. In my case, it was for recognition of the work I do as a Justice of the Peace in the City of London and Westminster Magistrates Courts. It’s one of the oldest surviving traditional ceremonies still in existence today and is believed to have first been presented in 1237. The Freedom of the City of London is undertaken by the Clerk to the Chamberlain’s Court at Guildhall. One of the benefits of being a Freeman of the City of London is apparently the right to drive sheep and cattle over London Bridge!” Congratulations, Howard! 👏 #employee #colleague #achievements #recognition

"Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust have delivered a large-scale habitat creation project at Hilfield Park Reservoir Nature Reserve, working in partnership with site owners and project funders, Affinity Water." 👏 Alexandra Sage, our Biodiversity Project Manager says: “We have a fantastic working relationship with HMWT and the sites that we manage in partnership are all the better for it. We've seen significant changes over the years at Hilfield as a direct result of new management techniques, including increased numbers and species of dragonfly and the re-emergence of nationally threatened plant species, Needle Spike-Rush, which hasn’t been recorded on the site in over 40 years. Hilfield Park Reservoir is just one example of several our sites that we actively manage for biodiversity enhancement, as part of our commitment to protect and enhance our local environment for current and future generations.” 🌿 Thanks to the team at Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust who have worked tirelessly to create this extensive area of wetland - we're so excited to see what species will establish and be recorded by our local volunteers! 😄 #wetlands #biodiversity #environment #management
