UNISON members working for Sandwell Leisure Trust will undertake another day of strike action on Friday 25 June. The industrial action is against Sandwell Leisure Trust’s fire and rehire to remove all staff from the national NJC negotiating body on pay, terms and conditions. Sandwell Leisure Trust’s promise not to change any terms and conditions expires March 2022, the year when the new £73million Aquatic Centre for the Commonwealth Games will be showcased in Smethwick.
Sandwell Leisure Trust’s fire and rehire was completely unnecessary. They began the pandemic with £4million in the bank. Now they still have £3.9million sat in the bank as reserves.
