THE deadline to nominate your sporting stars of 2017 has been extended to January 26.

The Sport Stafford Borough awards ceremony will take place next year to see who will follow in the footsteps of Olympic champion Joe Clarke and Paralympic medallist Ian Marsden to be crowned sports person of the year for the Stafford Borough.

Slalom canoeist Clarke won the award in 2013 and 2015, ahead of his gold medal-winning performance at the Rio Olympics last year, before handing the award over to Marsden, who won bronze in the paracanoe event a month later.

Other former Olympians to win the top prize include Lizzie Neave (canoe slalom), Alison Williamson (archery) and Jessica Luke (goalball).

There are 10 categories in which to nominate, covering individual performances, team performances, juniors, seniors, coaches and disability.

So if you know someone who deserves to be recognised for their sporting achievements in 2017, and they live, work or compete for a club in Stafford Borough, then use the form below to nominate them. The closing date is January 26, 2018.

Alternatively, download the PDF at the bottom of the page, complete it, and email it back to sport@staffordshirenewsletter.co.uk by January 26.
