The richest 300 are riding a wave of wealth creation in a year of record affluence

Ten years after one of the worst downturns in the country’s history, Ireland’s rich have never been richer. They have smashed records this year for overall wealth, for the fortune required to make our top 300, and for the speed of making money across sectors from sport to technology and music.

The phenomenal growth in wealth of the past 12 months has catapulted the combined fortune of Ireland’s 300 richest people to €79.122bn (£69.627bn), up from last year’s €77.057bn (£65.498bn). Such is the increase in wealth that the point of entry to the list has leapt by a record €12m to €52m. The top 250 threshold is €63m.
