We are nurturers of confidence

My approach to tutoring is personal. We get to know each child so that we can establish a working rapport. This allows us to create an individual learning plan that is tailored to your child. In doing this, we give your child the tools to give them confidence to rise to any challenge. Every child feels like a champion in their learning!

Special educational needs and disabilities

My approach to tutoring students with SEND is to create inclusivity. All children are unique, but no child wants to feel ‘different’. Integrity is at the heart of this. We ensure that children with SEND celebrate their unique learning style by outlining their strengths and set workable goals that stretch the child to go beyond their targets. If you have any further questions about your child’s specific needs don’t hesitate to get in contact using the form at the bottom of this page.

The Parents’ Verdicts

I have found Kellie to be hardworking and helpful and I would recommend her to anyone who has children that need help with their English. My children are happy with her and so am I.

Dr Zafar

Kellie is a very skilled and experienced tutor. She is always well prepared and knows how to use a pupils’ abilities to maximise learning. My six years old is very very happy; they look forward to the sessions.

Mrs Aisha

Miss Kellie is a true professional in completing the work assigned. She is very skilled and upfront in asking questions and is always there to propose better alternatives if she finds. I am very happy with her work and would recommend her as the best.

Mr Nauman

Our son has really improved and enjoys the lessons very much. Ms Kellie understands the strengths and weaknesses and teaches in a very calm manner. Also, at the same time, she expects the tasks assigned to be completed on time. We are very happy we found the right tutor for our son.

Mr Rajesh

Miss Kellie is an excellent tutor who has good technical and social skills. My daughter loves the sessions.

Mr A. Macafee

Kellie is very patient and always providing useful resources 🙂 She also gives great advice on writting essays!

Miss Grace

Kellie is a very kind and caring tutor. My son was in college and at times he could not make it home for tuition. Kellie would very kindly arrange to meet him at the library near his college at a convenient time for lessons. Rain or shine, she was always there for lessons. When my son started lessons with Kellie, he was a Grade 3 for GCSE English. And just one year with Kellie, he managed a Grade 5! We are most thankful and definitely feel relieved.

Mrs Yi Lian Tan

Kellie is showing excellent skills with my both children 16 y.o and a 13 y.o. She has helped them to achieve high marks in English and Science. As we are new in the British education system, she has had a strong impact on my children’s understanding of the curriculum. She consistently keeps us updated on their progress. I am very grateful and highly recommend her, as she is charismatic and creative and she has shown excellent teaching skills with all age groups.

Mrs Kadiki

Thank you very much for transforming and improving our daughter’s life. Now she is a more confident person in the school; she is capable of doing her homework on her own and in record time. Same with reading: she went from not reading books at all, but now she loves them. Her Math has improved unbelievably now, as she gets the concepts quickly and enjoys it so much.
Best of all, is that all of this was done in the most caring way possible. Zahra engaged and loved Kellie from day 1 and there wasn’t a single lesson that she didn’t enjoy. She smiles and enjoys each session from beginning to end. There are not enough words to express our gratitude for such wonderful work.

FAQs

With COVID-19, how can I support my child at home?

Routine is important to ensure your child or teen feels safe, secure and stable. Rather than enforcing a set timetable, this is a great opportunity to instil responsibility, accountability and passion for what they’re doing. How? By sitting with them and encouraging them to put together a timetable that includes study periods, chores and exercise. You’ll be surprised by how motivating and validating this is for them. Make it clear their are consequences for not sticking to the timetable and that their are rewards when they do. This sets them up for higher learning and the work place.

Will my child lose focus with online tuition?

No. Unlike school which has a rigid set timetable to manage hundreds of children, online tuition is flexible, fun and fulfilling. Kids can go at their own pace, and even review work to consolidate concepts and ideas.

How do I know if my child has made progress?

With online tuition progress can easily be mapped, as it requires a greater amount of interaction and concentration than face-to-face. By looking at the student’s participation, which has a physical record in the form of the platform’s chat history, parents and tutors can see the thought processes of the students, while they are learning. Moreover, with online tuition and courses, there are clear objectives and outcomes, so both parent and child can see when a new skill or concept has been mastered.

When it comes to creative writing, my child goes blank, how do I support them?

Counter-intuitively, creative writing is not creative at all! Examiners are looking for students to adapt their style for specific genres; for students to apply literary techniques in their writing, and to use structure, form and imagery to generate a clear effect on the reader. To help your child, give them clear, concise genres, such as ‘Adventure Story’. Then, look up film and book reviews (fiction & non-fiction) and pick out words and phrases related to that genre. Encourage your child to use those words, phrases and ideas in their own writing.

My child has been diagnosed with dyslexia, how can I support them?

Emotional and educational support will greatly empower your child with dyslexia. Give lots of positive praise to build your child’s confidence and self-esteem. Since dyslexia relates to difficulties decoding language, it is great to offer opportunities for child to ‘see’ words and their meanings. One way to do this is by putting up words with images around the house. Make them engaging by using different colour paper. You can also put the subtitles on when watching TV. These small changes can make a huge difference.
