Publisher's summary

I see a slim arm in the long grass. Its palm is turned toward the sky, hot-pink nails chipped and caked with black dirt. Recognition hits me like a wrecking ball. It’s my sister. I desperately shake her, even though I know. Her blue eyes are cold and vacant. She’s gone.

Fresh out of military PD and with nowhere to go, Georgia Fell is forced back to her Michigan island hometown to face painful memories of the night she left 10 years ago, betrayed and brokenhearted. But when a frantic text has her racing to a run-down bar on the isolated tip of the island, her heart shatters to find her sister dead on the ground, purple bruises covering her slim, beautiful neck. The police rule Rachel’s death an overdose, but Georgia knows that cannot be true. She let her little sister down in life, and she won’t do it in death.

Rachel’s best friend is keeping secrets about what happened at the bar that night, but gaining the trust of the wary teenager is going to take time. And when the girl goes missing, it’s time that Georgia doesn’t have. She has no choice but to turn to the one person she’s been avoiding since she returned to the island. Lincoln McNamara’s searing hazel eyes are bad for Georgia’s sanity, and seeing him as a doting single dad is even worse for her heart. But he was one of the last people to see Rachel’s friend before she disappeared.

Can Georgia trust Lincoln, knowing what he’s capable of? As past heartache wars with new desire, can she trust herself? With an innocent girl’s life on the line, does she even have a choice?

Listeners who adore Tami Hoag, Mary Burton, and J.D. Robb will be hooked on this jaw-dropping new crime series.

Awesome Read

I’m really picky about the books I read and the narrators I can listen to and I have to say that both were outstanding. The characters and the story will draw you in immediately and it’s keeps you guessing! My husband even listened to the whole book with me and he wanted to finish the book with me over watching tv! We both loved it and I can’t wait to see what happens next for Georgia and Lincoln.

Captivating and Suspenseful

My two favorite elements for a suspense thriller novel are at the forefront of this novel. I'm a huge fan of Maegan Beaumont's other thrillers and quickly devoured this one. I decided on the audiobook version because I was intrigued by a two-narrator presentation. Beyond pleased and looking forward to Book 2.

Horrible & predictable

Lead male alternates between whiny & extra macho. In real life with his hair trigger temp he’d punch a woman. And Georgia ? The supposed hero jumps to so many conclusions you could exercise to this book. Hate it. Tried to return it but audible has made it hard. Tried numerous ways -all outdated. Only had this book for 30 days. Dreaded listening to it to get my moneys worth. I stopped. Not worth the aggravation. SO PREDICTABLE

Simply addictive!

Maegan Beaumont will have you on the edge of your seat while simultaneously laughing out loud.
Her character Georgia has a wry and biting sense of humor -- throwing out stingingly funny sarcasm while attempting to save her own skin. A stimulating and fast listen Dark Water Girls is most satisfying! 🧐😱😂
If you love mystery and humor this book is right up your dark and thrilling alley. Satisfying your need for thrills while leaving you biting your nails in anticipation --- what will Georgia get into next?
