Detective Bernadette Noel came to this quiet rural corner of southwest England from London to lie low after a high-profile prosecution led to death threats against her family. But she has barely settled in when the call comes. A woman’s voice, shrill with terror and thick with tears: "Help - it’s my daughter, Molly - I only had my back turned for a minute.... She’s gone!"
A child abduction is about as far from lying low as it gets, and her boss wants to assign a different detective. But there’s no way Bernie’s not taking the case - she can’t miss this chance to prove herself.
Five-year-old Molly Reynolds has been snatched from the playground in the village where she lives. Normally in cases like this, the community is an asset - eager to help search and full of local knowledge. Brilliant
Great listen and loved the flow of the storyline. I thought I’d got the baddie several times, only to be outwitted and feeling flummoxed! Brilliant!

A gripping first book !
Last seen takes you on a journey through the twists and turns of an emotional missing persons case. The characters unfold in directions that both surprise and engage you as a reader/ listener. The story takes hold of you from the first line to the last.

Good story
A good story with great narration, although overall it felt a little naive with Bernie acting rather bizarrely on occasion, saying random and unessesary things but it does not detract too much from what is, a pretty good story.
Narrator is pleasant to listen to but her scottish and Irish accents were, to put it bluntly, terrible, sorry Claire, I'm sure I could do no better myself but I'd not try either. Otherwise she's great.
Definitely recommend this one.

Clear your schedule
This was recommended to me by a friend. I went for the audio book rather than add to the precarious tower of unread books by my bed.
I started it late in the evening which was a terrible mistake. The story is so gripping that I had to force myself to turn it off at about half two in the morning. I finished it before lunchtime the following day.
It was a really interesting listen with just enough twists and turns in the plot to keep it exciting without turning it into a baffling ordeal. As a long serving member of police staff I tend to get irritable at some authors' assumptions of police work but this books sticks closely to what I recognise as procedure, which placated the nerd in me.
My only tiiiiny criticism is with the performance, which was largely great but occasionally sounded as though it was being read by Alexa. Don't let that put you off though. It's an incredible, beautifully paced story.

Gripped
Loved the narration, really brought the story to life.
Enjoyed the twists and turns and playing detective myself to see if I could work out who was involved.
Will certainly be downloading the next one in the series.
