About this ebook

She was beautiful: shiny blond hair, crystal blue eyes and the widest smile Nikki had ever seen. She thought back to what she had seen in the ground, the dirt that caked the white bones. All that remained of her now was the silver locket that was still around her neck…

When construction workers unearth a girl’s skeleton in Stillwater, Minnesota, Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to the scene by her boyfriend Rory. Nikki knows instantly that the girl was murdered, but she is shocked when Rory immediately recognizes her. The victim was his childhood sweetheart, Becky, and he was the last person to see her before she went missing twenty-four years ago.

With the love of her life now a potential suspect, Nikki is forced to take a step back from the case. But then her colleague Liam finds lies in Rory’s statement – it appears that Becky may have been carrying Rory’s child when she was killed. Despite this, Nikki still thinks he could be innocent, and knows she must find the real killer herself if Rory stands any chance of walking free.

When Nikki finds a potential link to two pregnant girls who were found murdered years before it’s clear that this is the most twisted killer that she has ever faced. And then another girl goes missing from Stillwater. Can Nikki unearth the truth and protect the man she loves? And will she find the missing girl in time to save her life?

A dark and twisty crime thriller that will make you hold your breath as you race towards the end. The Girl in the Ground is an unputdownable new mystery for fans of Lisa Regan, Robert Dugoni and Willow Rose.

The Girl in the Ground picks up three months after the shocking events of Lost Angels with Nikki still trying to come to terms with who the serial killer Frost really was, the kidnapping of her daughter Lacey and the devastating killing that followed and on the eve of her return to work Nikki is dragged into a case that could have huge complications both personally and professionally when bones are found on boyfriend Rory's current job site, and with Rory understandably reluctant to talk or trust local law enforcement and concerned the body may belong to someone from his past Nikki is stuck firmly in the middle; and things only go from bad to worse when an FBI Agent and old flame rocks up wanting her help with a trafficking case that impacts Nikki who is then contacted by her boss for help when a pregnant woman disappears. And with such a taut storyline, huge twists and plenty of shocks this was a cracking read, that I couldn't put down and I for one can't wait for book five. Would definitely recommend. **I was kindly provided with an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

crime-fiction, psychological, thriller, PTSD,Minnesota, murder, FBI, suspense, triggers, true-horror, survivor's guilt, children-in-peril, death-investigation, series, law-enforcement, procedural, cold-case**** Nikki had to recuse herself from the case brought to her from a construction site because there was a connection to her current boyfriend (even more of a nightmare because his parents were minding her daughter while she worked). Lots of personal trauma, lots of horror in the backstory, and way too many triggers for me to enjoy reading. I have friends who will love it, but it's not for me (sorry). I requested and received a digital ARC of this book from Bookouture via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you

BLOG TOUR REVIEW Review for 'The Girl In The Ground' by Stacy Green. Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Stacy Green, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous Publication date 1st December 2021. This is the third book I have read by this author. It is also the fourth book in the 'Nikki Hunt' series but can be read as a standalone. I have previously read 'The Girls In The Snow' which is the first book in the 'Nikki Hunt' series and 'Lost Angels' which is the third book in the series and which I highly recommend. I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that 'The Girl in the Ground is an unputdownable new mystery for fans of Lisa Regan, Robert Dugoni and Willow Rose. ' I am a huge fan of Lisa Gardner so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Stacy Green and if this is half as good as 'The Girls In The Snow' and 'Lost Angels' it is sur
