Aoife Lyall is an Irish poet living and working in the Scottish Highlands. This residency will enable her to complete her debut collection, Mother, Nature (Bloodaxe Books, 2021), specifically through a final in-depth critical analysis of each poem contained therein, followed by a review of the collection’s overall ordering and structure. Beyond this, she will divide her time between writing her second collection, which explores the systemic failures of maternal care and social attitudes to families in Ireland and the UK, and delving into a long-planned project of translating and re-imagining the medieval poem Pearl for a contemporary audience.
