Trialling ways to help retain science teachers and improve secondary science education |
Can mentoring, or getting rid of tasks like marking practices and lesson observations, improve the retention of science teachers? Could teacher training around metacognitive strategies, or science tutoring of students by undergraduates help improve science education? With the Education Endowment Foundation, we have co-funded a range of studies and trials to help answer some of these questions. |

The evidence behind enhancing secondary science teaching
|
If you haven’t checked out the Education Endowment Foundation’s guidance report on science, keep your eyes peeled on your postboxes in early January 2019. We’ve worked with the EEF to get printed copies of the report to every secondary school in the UK next term, so make sure you pick it up. You can also download a digital version below.

- Primary school teachers can now find Explorify activities by topic, and if you need more inspiration, we've curated weekly topic-based activities, such as this bird-themed one.
|
- All activities have been aligned to the curricula for England, Wales, NI and Scotland so that it is quick and easy for to find what you need for your class. Be sure to update your settings with your country and year group so that Explorify will be tailored to your needs.

We think Explorify is great, so it’s lovely to see that other people think so too! In 2018, Explorify has been recognised as a Webby Awards honoree, a Bronze Award winner at the Digital Impact Awards, and shortlisted for the CYP Now Awards and BETT Award.
