International crew changes will soon commence from the Auckland anchorage area.
Ships will be able to anchor without the need for port services, with crew transferred to and from the vessel using MIQ approved transportation. Allowing the changes at a safe anchorage will assist those vessels currently unable to change crew due to their New Zealand port rotation.
This will enable some vessels who previously had limited crew change opportunities such as vessels scheduled to only visit South Island ports, to refresh their crew and support seafarer welfare.
