Invitation to the IMPULS-Lesson Study Alliance 2019 Lesson Study Immersion Program
Project IMPULS (International Math-teacher Professionalization Using Lesson Study) at Tokyo Gakugei University, Japan and Lesson Study Alliance, a non-profit corporation in Chicago, USA are offering an intensive Lesson Study Immersion Program in Japan in the summer of 2019. The program will run from June 18 (Tuesday) to June 27 (Thursday), 2019.

Project IMPULS-LSAlliance Lesson Study Immersion Program offers leaders of lesson study a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in authentic mathematics Lesson Study in Japan. Participants will observe several mathematics lessons, developed through Lesson Study in elementary and secondary schools, and participate in live post-lesson discussions. All research lessons and post-lesson discussions will be simultaneously translated into English by experts of mathematics teaching and learning. In addition, participants will have opportunities to interact with teachers, students, and education professors from schools in Japan.

Tuition for the program is $3500 US, which includes the cost for the accommodations and local transportation during the program. Participants will be responsible for their own international airfare to Tokyo and local transportation between the airport and the hotel in Tokyo.

We can accept only a limited number of participants due to the constraints of live research lesson observation.
Interested individuals should complete the following application form by December 31, 2018.  Based on the number of the application we may invite you to submit a formal application to the program.
