TWO former employees of the then-Public Works Department (PWD) have been sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
Serving inmate Amelia Vunisea and Laisa Halafi appeared before High Court judge Justice Riyaz Hamza earlier today.
Vunisea was convicted of one count of abuse and 33 counts of causing a loss.
The loss caused to the PWD amounted to $93,512.48.
Halafi who was the assistant accounts officer was convicted of one count of abuse of office and 27 counts of causing a loss, and one count of obtaining financial advantage.
She caused a total loss of $75.981.91 to PWD and the financial advantage obtained by her amounted to $27,400.
They were charged with seven others by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
The two were also sentenced to six years last month after they were convicted of similar type of offences.
Justice Hamza did not set a non-parole period but said the sentences must be served concurrently.
