Birmingham and Solihull Sexual Health and Fast Track Cities Survey

Overview

This survey is being conducted in order to gather information relating to Sexual Health services across Birmingham and Solihull. The survey will inform a Sexual Health Needs Assessment that is being completed across the two areas and will inform work being completed in relation to Fast Track Cities.

The Sexual Health Needs Assessment is a process used by Birmingham City Council and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to assess the sexual health needs facing the residents living in the two areas and will be used to inform service developments in response to these and potential future needs.

The Fast Track Cities initiative is to ensure availability and access to effective testing and treatment to significantly reduce and therefore eradicate new cases of Blood Borne Viruses (BBVs): HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Tuberculosis (TB). What are sexual health services?

Sexual and reproductive health services are confidential and available to everyone, regardless of age or background.

Sexual health clinics, sometimes called genitourinary medicine (GUM) or sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, offer a number of services, including:

• Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
• HIV testing, treatment and prevention
• Advice and information about sexual health
• Condoms
• Contraception
• Support for people who have been sexually assaulted

You can get sexual health advice, information and some services from a range of places, including GPs, pharmacies, sexual assault referral centres and young people’s services.
