Altenew Plentiful Patterns Stand-Alone Dies/Stencil Release Blog Hop & Giveaway + Video!

Would you like to see a new FUN way to use your stencils? Layering stencils give us so many more options and today I decided to use them just a little bit differently!

But first did you know that Altenew has a new stand-alone die release and I just had to make a card! And we are hopping along at Altenew so you should have arrived here from NATHALIE’s amazing Blog!

I do have 2 cards to share with you today starting with a ‘glittery‘ layered Pattern Motif Die.

I did keep this card very clean and simple.

Altenew - Pattern Motif Die Set - PAF Carnations (card) 1 copy

And a ‘wedding’ sentiment from the Paint-A-Flower: Carnations Stamp Set.

My second design uses the Impressionist Bouquet Layering Stencil Set and it’s the layers that allow the magic to happen. To see how I achieved the extra ‘watercoloury’ look check out my video linked below.

I also added some Polka Dot Leaves as well as a Mix and Match Frames die cut panel.

And a sentiment from the Ornamental Bliss Stamp Set.

You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at YouTube.

  1. I love the watercolor card! Thank you for the video. You demonstrate card making and techniques so well, even I understand them!

  2. Altenew have always had the best flower stamps and dies on the market. Now they are fast becoming the leader of stencils. I just love the card with the stand alone die. So clean and simple, but so stunning.

  3. I love it when your technique is “forgiving”! That means I cannot goof up, right? ‘ll give it a try and I hope my results are as beautiful as yours. Thank you for another way to stretch my creativity!
BTW—- how do you sharpen those woodless watercolor pencils?

    1. Thanks so much June! The pencils don’t require sharpening very often but it’s easy enough to do with a regular pencil sharpener (just don’t ‘waste’ too much of the paint by sharpening it a lot).

  4. I think the glitter cardstock under the white is gorgeous. Using watercolor for your first color with the stencil is simply genius! I think I am going to have to have this stencil just to use this technique. The results are stunning!

  5. I’m intrigued with the layering stencils and think your card using the watercolor is awesome. Both cards are beautiful and I so appreciated the video for the watercolor technique.

  6. Both of your cards are beautiful but I absolutely love the elegant simplicity of your first! I never though of using glitter card stock as a shadow.

  7. Hi Therese, I love both cards and as always, you have a new technique to share. Can’t wait to try it.

  8. Lovely cards! Really like the glittery card, clean and simple, but very elegant. The card you made in your video would look lovely as a framed picture.

  9. Both cards are so beautiful. The watercoloured card is such a great idea. I hope it’s going OK in lockdown.

  10. Gorgeous cards, both. The deckled edging was a lovely touch to your beautiful watercolouring.

  11. Always look forward to an Altenew release and no disappointment here. Gorgeous cards and popping over to YouTube land to watch the video!
    Cheers
    Lisa

  12. Wow! I tried to imagine doing the background watercolor wash myself and decided it would look like a hot mess. But I love how it turned out when you did it!

  13. Thank you for sharing this diy colored paper!! You achieve such brilliant color from what appears to be only a bit of watercolor pencil! I love how the leaves cover so much of the card and really support the florals. Blues and greens together are my favorite combination.

  14. Your always come us with the most unique techniques! I’m often skeptical, but they always turn out beautifully. Gorgeous cards.

  15. LOVE these!! The sparkle on the first is perfect💕 Thank You for the video using 2 of the items I really have my eye on. I love the technique you shared & saved the video!! That finished card is Fabulous!!

  16. You are one of my favorite card artists. I loved your video showing a new technique! Both cards are stunning!

  17. Thanks for sharing your fun tutorial. I had never tried this before. LOVE your spin on the new release.
