Fellow scientists, teachers, and community members -
The North Carolina Central Regional Science and Engineering Fair for Region 3A is going to be held in-person on Saturday, February 10, 2024. We need your help to make this a great experience for all the young students who have invested their time and energy into completing a project. Would you have the time and capacity to do so? We need the following:
- Pre-fair volunteers: Scientific Review Committee (STEM background required) - reviewing student registrations and documents before the fair. We will be in touch with you about one month prior to the day of the fair.
- Judges (STEM background required): Time is estimated to be 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM on the day of the science fair. A welcome email, judging rubric, and student research reports will be provided at least two weeks prior to the fair and we will hold an in-person training on the morning of the fair.
- Science Fair Day volunteers (no STEM background required) - Because the fair is in-person this year, we are in need of folk to help run the registration tables, act as room moderators, assist with awards, safety and display checks, and help with science fair set-up and tear-down. Time commitment may vary from 7:00 AM - 10:30 AM (registration), 7:00 AM - 9:30 AM (safety and display) 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM (room moderator), 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM (awards assistance), or 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM (tear-down).
The last day to register to volunteer is Sunday, February 4, 2024.
