SXSW 2019

Digitalizing "Dugnad", the volunteer work platform

Description:

In Norwegian we have a word, "dugnad", that does not exist in English. When our apartment building needs renovation, we gather a bunch of residents and do the job in a couple of hours. No money involved. Maybe a couple of hot dogs and waffles, but no money. "Dugnad" is a session of volunteer work, and we like to think that the "dugnad" and volunteer spirit in Norway is strong.

A number that proves it is the over 50 000 volunteers registered in The Norwegian Red Cross' database. So when we got the task to digitalize the Norwegian Red Cross' volunteer platform, we wanted it to lighten the work with administration, and give more time to humanitarian work. Join the session to learn how!
