Submit to Write On!

Write On! accepts written pieces (prose, poetry, essays, opinion), illustrations and artwork. Work can be included in the quarterly print magazine or can be used for Write On! Extra or in Write On! Audio online content. If you have an idea for something to submit, you may be interested in recording it, we also accept photos, video or audio extracts or snapshot interviews online.

Each day has a different focus which you might be interested in contributing to, see below for more details along with how to submit to Write On! Audio.

NB: The volunteer editorial team will make the final decisions on where your submission will be used, it could be used in either print, online or both. If you think your work could be included on a particular online page please make your suggestion. NB: Always separate your work out and submit as separate pieces, indicating in the title whether they fit together.

Due to the volume of submissions, pieces summitted may be held for up to six moths before we can use them. If you have any questions about retention for future use please email Write On! at pentoprint@lbbd.gov.uk

Write On! Audio, the podcast ‘For Writers Everywhere’ connects emerging and established writers to each other and to the industry. There is an opportunity to submit to our Listener Contribution Slot, as well as record your creative work and offer any tips and feature ideas you might have. (Episodes released weekly from June 2022)

Thoughtful Tuesdays

Mindfulness, inspiration, poetry, quotes and ideas shared to create leadership and hope to see us through the week. (Published – 2nd Tuesday of the month)

Write On! Showcase

The creative writing showcase includes poetry, short stories, flash fiction and book extracts. Although most will reflect the seasonal theme, some work, such as memoirs or book extracts offer a non-themed perspective. (Published – Weekly on Wednesday)

Thursday Connectors

Everyone, everywhere are having different experiences and have different ways of dealing with these strange times. This internationally ‘flavoured’ page is all about people and their own stories, connecting us with ideas and ideals reaching outwards from east London to encompass the UK and the world at large.
(Published – 3rd Thursday of the month)

Write On! Features

Essays, opinions and features. In Write On! Extra the subject matter focusses on topics that are relevant to publishing and writing arenas, but also includes wider content in order to  encompass thinking and ideas relevant to our times. (Published – Weekly on Friday)

Saturday Spotlight

Spotlight offers a roundup of indie, traditional, small press releases, theater productions and podcasts, bringing readers and audiences an overview of what can be found in theaters, digitally online and on physical shelves. (Published – Last Saturday of the month)

Write On! Interviews

The Sunday profile opportunity features writers, publishers, editors agents and other creatives, along with individuals from diverse communities in a number of different occupations. (Published – Weekly on Sunday)
