GIBOP main findings

Note on how GIBOP interprets the definition of 'biodiversity offsets'

Offset Implementation database from Bull & Strange (2018) records almost 13,000 projects in 37 countries. Almost 100% of this is triggered by policy. Although substantial, the data set remains patchy as evidence of implementation is hard to come by; about 60% of those countries who are enabling or requiring an offset have no publicly available and accessible implementation evidence.GIBOP database is currently being upgraded. New data sets on the scope of application and implementation of the national offset policies are being uploaded.Suggested citation when using GIBOP and the implementation data soon uploaded: GIBOP. 2019.
