A North American Conference Focused on Willow

June 24th thru June 30th, 2019

In June 2019, willow weavers are gathering once again in Decorah, Iowa on the grounds of Luther College, for a week of classes taught by renowned basket makers.

Guaranteed to expand your experiences and challenge your skills with willow, this summer’s classes focus on traditional and non-traditional styles and willow's many uses as a material in basketry; from whole rods, willow bark, to working with willow skeins.

Willow Gathering Highlights

~ 1,2 & 3 day classes available for all skill levels with 3 talented willow makers

~ Thursday is “Explore Decorah” day.

~ "Meet the Teachers" Thursday evening - an informal visit with the instructors and discussion of what basketry means to each of them - their start, their inspirations, their vision for the future.

~ Chair massage available throughout the week

~ Evenings on Shirley Baker Porch, watching fireflies, weaving, meeting new people and catching up with friends.


Great Food by Trout River Catering

Class day lunches & snacks are included in the class fees and will be provided by Ruth Hampton of Trout River Catering.

Ruth prepares well-balanced regionally sourced vegetarian fare mixing both traditional and exotic flavors.
