Rejuvenating the St Piers Estate

Local charity Young Epilepsy and retirement village operator Audley have designed a masterplan to redevelop the St Piers Estate.

The development proposals will generate the necessary funding to secure a sustainable long-term future for Young Epilepsy while creating a new, high-quality residential care community in an enhanced countryside setting.

The proposals will see Young Epilepsy's facilities consolidated into a smaller part of the estate, reducing the footprint of the buildings on site and creating more open space than there is currently. A new Audley residential care community with 152 specialist properties for older people is also proposed.

Large parts of the estate will remain undeveloped and land to the east, approximately the size of around 10 football pitches and currently used by Young Epilepsy for agriculture, will be returned to nature.

The plans include the removal and reuse of vacant and underused buildings, as well as the restoration of heritage assets within the St Piers Estate.

Consulting the local community

In March 2022, we hosted a public consultation on our plans for St Piers Estate, including public drop-in events on 3 and 5 March. This enabled us to gather feedback before we finalised the masterplan and submitted our planning application to Tandridge District Council.
