India and Sweden celebrate 10th innovation day with a focus on 'accelerating green growth'
NEW DELHI: India and Sweden jointly marked the 10th India Sweden Innovation Day, a momentous occasion emphasizing the theme of "Accelerating Green Growth." The celebration witnessed over 370 participants, including a delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) representing India, and brought together influential figures, including policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and businesses.
This event reaffirmed the shared commitment of both nations to promote sustainable innovation and tackle global challenges.
Highlighting the remarkable partnership between India and Sweden, Dr. Jitendra Singh, minister for science and technology, expressed, "The India-Sweden Innovation Day 2023 is a dedicated effort to harness the collective expertise of both nations, strongly emphasizing sustainability and achieving net-zero emissions. This year, nine Swedish companies have joined hands with India, reinforcing our commitment to nurturing bilateral relations and advancing green technologies. Our partnership is pivotal in addressing global challenges and aligning with the United Nations' sustainability goals."
Mr. Andreas Carlson, minister of infrastructure of Sweden, noted the success of the India-Sweden alliance over the last 75 years. He highlighted the commitment to addressing challenges such as green energy and sustainable development. He emphasized that Sweden, known for its innovation prowess, complements India's significant growth, vast scale, and immense talent pool.
The 10th India Sweden Innovation Day recognized the unique opportunity for a comprehensive alliance between India, the current leader of the G-20 Presidency, and Sweden, a leader in sustainability innovation. With India's robust economic growth and Sweden's pioneering advances in sustainability, the stage is set for both countries to drive transformative change on a global scale.
