Peanut Tuna EP (CD)

The entire sequence can be heard here on YouTube for free.

Peanut Tuna EP presents a sequence of partial palindromes, composed using a constrained backmasking technique: The first half of each composition was written ‘freely’. The lead guitar part of the first half was then reversed by backmasking. The resulting backmasked audio then served as the lead guitar part of the composition’s second half, and thus as a constraint around which the composition was completed.

This EP uses electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, and several VST plug-ins. All tracks composed and performed by Anthony Etherin.

The CD’s artwork features collages that reuse and transform work from pulp magazine covers: Wink, August 1950 [art by Peter Driben], Thrilling Mystery, May 1947 [art by Rudolph Belarski], G-Men Detective, Winter 1945 [art by Rudolph Belarski], and Ghost Stories, October 1926 [artist unknown].
