Elle King Crowns Adult Alternative Songs Chart for First Time With ‘Shame’

King becomes the only act with No. 1s on the Adult Pop Songs, Adult Alternative Songs, Alternative Songs & Country Airplay charts.

Elle King scores her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart, as “Shame” jumps 3-1 on the Oct. 13-dated list.

King now has earned chart-toppers at four distinct radio formats, as her breakthrough single “Ex’s & Oh’s” ruled the Alternative Songs and Adult Pop Songs charts in 2015, while Dierks Bentley‘s “Different for Girls,” on which she’s featured, topped Country Airplay in 2016. With her new No. 1, King becomes the only act to have led all four lists.

Despite “Shame” marking her first No. 1 on Adult Alternative Songs, King had experienced success on the tally before, as “Ex’s” peaked at No. 2 in July 2015 and follow-up “Under the Influence” hit No. 3 (April 2016).

King is the third act to score a first No. 1 on Adult Alternative Songs in 2018, following Jade Bird (“Lottery”) and The War on Drugs (“Pain”).

“Shame” concurrently pulls into the top 20 of Alternative Songs  (21-18) and rises 19-16 on the all-rock-format Rock Airplay chart, with 4.4 million audience impressions (up 10 percent), according to Nielsen Music.

The song is the lead single from King’s second studio album, Shake the Spirit, due Oct. 19.
