Longest Leading No. 1s Ever on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay Chart

The Regional Mexican scene is just as dominant and on fire, as the Latin rhythmic scene — especially with the rise of artists such as Grupo Firme, Los Dos Carnales, and Eslabon Armado, to name a few.

But before the new generation, a group of Mexican artists and groups were making us swoon and croon with their music. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Billboard put together the 20 longest-leading No. 1 songs on the Regional Mexican Songs airplay chart. The list includes everyone from ’90s sensations such as Los Temerarios and La Mafia to the new wave of artists such as Espinoza Paz and Gerardo Ortiz.

The longest-leading No. 1s list is ranked based on peak positions on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart from the ranking’s first chart week on Oct. 8, 1994, to the Oct. 2, 2021-dated chart. For songs with the same number of weeks at No. 1, we then ranked them by most weeks in the top 10, then most total weeks on the chart.

1. “No Me Conoces Aun” – Palomo

Palomo’s “No Me Conoces Aun” peaked at No. 1 on the July 28, 2001-dated chart, where it reigned for 31 weeks.

2. “Necesito Decirte” – Conjunto Primavera

Conjunto Primavera’s single earned the group the No. 1 spot on the April 3, 1999-dated chart, spending 21 weeks atop.

3. “Llamada de mi Ex” – La Arrolladora Banda el Limón de Rene Camacho

La Arrolladora Banda’s “Llamada de mi Ex” peaked at No. 1 on the Feb. 11, 2012-dated chart, staying strong at the summit for 19 weeks.

4. “Yo Se Que Te Acordaras” – Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizarraga

Banda el Recodo’s “Yo Se Que Te Acordarás” peaked at No. 1 on the May 20, 2000-dated chart, leading for 19 weeks.

5. “Dime Que Me Quieres” – Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga

“Dime Que Me Quieres” peaked at No. 1 on the June 19, 2010-dated chart and kept atop for 17 weeks.

6. “Una Vez Más” – Conjunto Primavera

Conjunto Primavera’s single nabbed them the No. 1 spot on the March 1, 2003-dated chart, where they reigned for 17 weeks.

7. “No Puedo Olvidarte” – Beto y sus Canarios

Beto y sus Canarios peaked at No. 1 with their single “No Puedo Olvidarte” on the Sept. 24, 2005-dated chart and stayed at the summit for 16 weeks.

8. “El Ruido de tus Zapatos” – La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho

La Arrolladora’s “El Ruido de tus Zapatos” peaked at No. 1 on the July 13, 2013-dated chart, and also ruled for 16 weeks.

9. “Te Presumo” – Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizarraga

Banda el Recodo’s single “Te Presumo” peaked at No. 1 on the Feb. 14, 2009-dated chart. It led for 15 weeks.

10. “Nomas por tu Culpa” – Los Huracanes del Norte

“Nomas Por Tu Culpa” nabbed Los Huracanes del Norte the No. 1 spot on the Oct. 18, 2003-dated chart, where it remained for 15 weeks.

11. “Un Millón de Rosas” – La Mafia

La Mafia’s “Un Millón de Rosas” peaked at No. 1 on the Jan. 27, 1996-dated chart, taking the lead for 14 weeks.

12. “Sueña” – Intocable

Intocable’s single “Sueña” peaked at No. 1 on the Nov. 30, 2002-dated chart, reigning for 13 weeks.

“Por Que Te Conocí,” took Los Temerarios to the No. 1 spot on the Feb. 7, 1998-dated chart, where it crowned for 13 weeks.
