CHAPS

Our (Publishing) House

In a world with so much poetic noise, how can you, as
a new writer, hope to be heard?

Two words: Dithering Chaps

Sure, we admit it! We are prone to dither the old-fashioned way. Who wouldn’t, when so many fine words land in our inbox each day? But there’s more to dithering than choosing between bourbons and jammie dodgers... (Custard cream! I’ll have a custard cream!)

Then again, we like to think our poetic dithering is the cool kind sound recordists use. Maybe laying down Dylan. Or streaming Anne Carson. Okay, so we’ve never actually had our hands on one of those sound console sliders! But when it comes to poems, we feel sure we can mix a small masterpiece.

Small is our watchword. Fascicles, pamphlets ... chapbooks. Carefully crafted and sent out into the world. White noise against the clamour of competing voices: Dithering Chaps

Meet the Team …

  • Gena graduated from the University of Aberystwyth with a Joint Honours degree in English and Librarianship, so books are her passion. She will be thrilled to read your work and looks forward to receiving your submissions.

  • David's poem, 'The Sheliand', was the reason we started out on the Dithering Chaps adventure. We needed to learn how to get it right (and what to do when you get it wrong!). Since then, he has been published widely in literary journals including Orbis, New Isles Press, Stand Magazine and South Poetry Magazine. Along with Gena, our Lead Editor, David has the ambition to make Dithering Chaps the home for new and exciting poetic talent, changing the world one chapbook at a time.
