24HRS FOR TIGRAY

We are a global coalition of Tigrayan organisations and concerned individuals hosting a 24 hour lobby to highlight the deepening humanitarian crisis in Tigray, Ethiopia.

On November 3rd 2020 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed sent his army into the region. Tigrayans have been cut off from essential supplies of food and medicines. The internet and phone lines have been severed. Tigrayan civilians have recorded footage of terrible massacres and brutal rapes. The UN warns of impending starvation and says the threat of atrocities “remains high and is likely to get worse.” Over 60,000 refugees have fled Tigray – more than a million are internally displaced. Aid agencies and reporters have been denied access to the war zone, while Eritrean and Somali forces have attacked the Tigrayan resistance.

This 24 hour global lobby aims to raise awareness of the humanitarian crisis and call for global support for our three aims:

• Full humanitarian access to Tigray

• An inclusive national dialogue

• Withdrawal of foreign troops from Tigray
