Description

Is self-management by nursing (and social care) teams the answer for improving care and retaining staff? Insights from the Dutch Buurtzorg social enterprise model in Europe and in the UK.

Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Health & Social Care has recently suggested that the Dutch Buurtzorg social enterprise’s model of self-managing teams could be the answer for both improving services aimed at supporting independence in the home for older and disabled adults and also improving staff retention .

The Buurtzorg model places the patient /client at the heart of the delivery mdoel and also has small self-managing teams located in a neighbourhood. This seminar will explore both the concepts and also the evidence to date from Europe and the UK.

Professor Anne-Marie Rafferty will present on work she has conducted in Europe to investigate the implementation and value of this model please amend

Professor Vari Drennan MBE will present on the pilots of this model in the UK and an early evaluation of an adapted Buurtzorg model in district nursing in London
