Countryside Enhancement Scheme (CES)

The Countryside Enhancement Scheme (CES) is an environmental improvement scheme which offers financial incentives to support and reward initiatives designed to look after Jersey's countryside.

Applying for funding

The deadline for applications is 15 September 2023.

The scheme is open to anyone responsible for the management of land or coastal areas including:

  • farmers
  • growers
  • land managers
  • landowners
  • businesses
  • charities
  • societies
  • schools
  • Government departments

All applicants should familiarise themselves with the guidance notes.

Countryside Enhancement Scheme guidance notes

The notes provide full details about the CES, the application procedure and the rules that apply to participants.

Department officers are available to discuss specific applications.

You can also fill out the Countryside Enhancement Scheme application form and send to the address at Howard Davis Farm. Any extra supporting documents can be emailed to the CES coordinator.

The scheme's aims

The scheme has options designed to assist applicants in the delivery of environmental projects that:

  • helps maintain and improve the Island's unique and internationally significant rural character, landscape, habitats, flora and fauna
  • enhances, conserves and protects Jersey's natural environment on a local scale
  • implements Island-wide strategic environmental projects that will enhance biodiversity
  • assists with the delivery of the Island's commitments to International Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) and local environmental objectives
