EU Settlement Scheme: application fee refunds

Information for applicants to the EU Settlement Scheme on how refunds are processed if you paid an application fee.

If you paid a fee when you applied to the EU Settlement Scheme you’ll receive a refund.

Getting your fee refund

You do not need to do anything because your payment will be refunded automatically. The money you paid will be refunded to the card you used to pay the application fee.

How long it takes

Once a refund has been processed it can take 10 working days for the payment to reach your card. It may take longer for some card types and issuers.

Confirmation of your refund

You’ll receive an email from the Home Office confirming your refund has been processed once your card has been refunded. The email will be sent to the email address you gave us when you made your application to the EU Settlement Scheme.

Contact the EU Settlement Resolution Centre for help if you cannot see the refund on your statement more than 10 working days after you received the confirmation email or if you have not heard from us by 20 April 2019.

Preventing fraud

The Home Office will never send you an unexpected request for your card or bank details.

If you have any concerns about contact from an individual claiming to be from the Home Office relating to your EU Settlement Scheme application, you can contact the EU Settlement Resolution Centre to confirm that the contact is genuine.
