Story
Happy new year everyone
People who know me well will know that I like to hold a tennis racket in my hand a lot and equally, they know that I also like to hold a pint glass in my hand as often!! I am giving my liver a much-needed break by staying dry for the entire month of January, shock horror! The main reason I’m doing this is to raise money for a charity chosen by my close friend, Lucy Vaughan. When Lucy was in the latter stage of pregnancy with her second child, she discovered a lump in her breast. Her GP at the time thought it was just part of pregnancy, however upon examination it was diagnosed as cancer and that it had spread to the lymph nodes. This horrific news was followed by surgery to remove the lump and all lymph nodes and the difficult decision to deliver the baby prematurely. Baby Spencer is now doing very well but just days after her 40th birthday, Lucy has started chemotherapy on New Year’s Eve. I hope that by the summer, Lucy will be well and is able to enjoy her time with her young family, Spencer and her first-born Harvey.
I’m raising money for ‘Mummy’s Star’, a charity chosen by Lucy. This charity focuses on women diagnosed with cancer in their pregnancies or within a year of giving birth. Cancer charities such as this and cancer patients have been overshadowed by Covid-19 and it is important not to forget about them.
Anything you can give would be gratefully appreciated at this time.
Cheers!
