In December, we helped launched the UAE Food Innovation Hub, a programme led by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, that brings together industry leaders to tackle the country’s food security challenges through innovation. At Majid Al Futtaim our approach strikes a balance between providing high-quality, sustainable produce and ensuring it remains accessible and affordable for our customers.

We’ve expanded our Feed The Future initiative to curb food waste during Ramadan, leveraging brands across our business to distribute surplus food to those most in need. In partnership with technology partner, Replate, and the UAE Food Bank, the initiative has a dual positive impact on local communities as well as on the environment by bolstering national food security and reducing emissions from our assets. In just a two month pilot of the initiative, over 2,000 meals were recovered daily, saving 15kg of food per day, conserving 2.28 million litres of water, and diverting 2,050kg of CO2 from the environment.

Today we announced our 2023 financial results. A 12% increase in both EBITDA and net profit to AED 4.6 billion and AED 2.7 billion respectively shows the strength of our diversified portfolio. Properties had a standout year driven by strong performance in our UAE malls and Tilal Al Ghaf, with a YoY increase in revenue of 20% to AED 6.9 billion and 21% increase in EBITDA to AED 3.6 billion. In Retail, our digital sales revenue grew by 17% to AED 2.6 billion and revenue in our Lifestyle business crossed the AED 1 billion mark for the first time. In Entertainment, cinemas continue to recover from disruption to their content pipeline and we opened our 4th snow park with Snow Abu Dhabi, growing revenue by 7% to AED 1.8 billion. Underpinning all these successes are our amazing people and I want to thank MAFers across our businesses for their incredible hard work this year.
