We are excited to start revealing the names of the keynote speakers at #ICHS2024, the inaugural edition of the International Circular Hydrometallurgy Symposium. And our first announced speaker is … David Robinson (General Manager Neometals Ltd, Australia). David’s keynote is entitled “Vanadium production in Europe: carbon-neutral, zero-waste vanadium recovery from slag”.   💡 David Robinson? David graduated in Chemistry through the University of Sheffield (UK) and Wits and UNISA (South Africa). He has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of innovation from concept development and demonstration through piloting and commissioning full-scale projects. Most of his career David has been involved in hydrometallurgical processes, including projects and operations involving the #preciousmetals (PGM and Au), base metals (particularly Cu, Ni, Co) and more recently lighter elements (Ti, V and Li). His current role involves technical leadership for Neometals across a range of primary and secondary material processing and #refining, oversight of all R&D activities, and development and management of Neometals’ innovation and IP portfolios.   📣 About ICHS2024 The First International Circular Hydrometallurgy Symposium (Mechelen, Belgium, 9-11 September 2024) will give the floor to world-leading academic and industrial hydrometallurgists to provide visionary lectures on what “The Twelve Principles of Circular Hydrometallurgy” may mean for the future of hydrometallurgy, knowing that, without metals, there is no transition to a climate-neutral economy! ♻ The Symposium is organised by SOLVOMET R&I Centre in the context of Koen Binnemans' #erc AdG CIRMET project and the recently started Horizon Europe CICERO Project. Welcome to the Horizon Europe AVANTIS page. This new EU project targets two #criticalmetals - #vanadium and #titanium - that have received much less attention than the typical CRMs such as #rareearths, #lithium, #cobalt or #nickel. Still, they are essential for a suite of cleantech applications including all-vanadium #redoxflowbatteries (VRFBs). 👉 Project info AVANTIS comprises #responsiblemining in Europe, in line with the new CRMA 10% domestic extraction target (cf. new STORYRUNNER documentary by Stijn van Baarle, presented by Peter Tom Jones: Made in Europe from mine to electric vehicle: https://lnkd.in/e3Snfp4h). AVANTIS stands for “Sustainable, decarbonised co-extraction of vanadium and titanium minerals from Europe’s low-grade vanadium-bearing titanomagnetite deposits”.
