The applications to the Canon Video Grant are now open! Together with Visa pour l’Image, Canon are seeking documentary filmmakers for the 5th Canon Video Grant. The grant winner will receive €8,000, along with a loan of video kit including a Canon video camera and two lenses to make a short documentary of approximately eight minutes in length. In 2023, Juan Vicente Manrique Gomez was awarded for his project ‘Looking For A Donkey’, a satirical view on the violation of freedom of expression by the Venezuelan regime. The applications to the Canon Photojournalist Grant are now open! This year, we are celebrating the work of photojournalists for the 35th consecutive year, as part of our long-standing partnership with Visa pour l’Image. The winner of the Canon Female Photojournalist Grant will be awarded an €8,000 grant to pursue a long-term documentary project. Natalya Saprunova won the award in 2022, which she used to support her project ‘The Evenki People’, custodians of the resources of Yakutia. Her photos were exhibited in Perpignan at Visa pour L'Image last year, where the top 30 students of the Canon Student Development Programme had the chance to join Natalya on an exhibition tour, sharing more about her story and the project.
