THE A27 TRUNK ROAD (OVING CROSSROADS) (PROHIBITION OF TURNING AND CHANGE OF ACCESS) ORDER 2020

Highways England Company Limited(a) gives notice that they propose to make an Order under powers conferred by Sections 1(1), 2(1) and (2), and 4(1) of, and Paragraph 27(1) of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A27 Trunk Road in the District of Chichester in the County of West Sussex.

The effect of the Order would be;

1) to prohibit any vehicle:-

a) making a right turn from the southbound carriageway of the A27 into the eastbound B2144 (Oving Road);

b) making left and right turns from the northbound carriageway of the A27 into the B2144 (Oving Road) in either direction;

c) proceeding from the eastbound carriageway of the B2144 (Oving Road) west of its junction with the A27 in any direction other than northbound on the A27; and

d) making a U-Turn in either direction on the A27 at its junction with the B2144 (Oving Road); and

2) to close the B2144 Oving Road east from its junction with the A27 to a point 10 metres east in both directions, excepting buses proceeding from the westbound carriageway into the northbound carriageway of the A27.

The Trunk Road (Chichester Bypass) (Prohibition of “U” Turns) Order 1976(b) is hereby revoked.

Owing to the extraordinary circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic it has been determined that the normal procedure of making documentation available for public viewing cannot be followed owing to the limited access of the nominated drop points.

In this instance, and as allowed by the recent amendment to the said procedures, a copy of the draft Order, plans illustrating the proposal and a statement explaining why Highways England Company Limited proposes to make the Order may be obtained by contacting, by e-mail, either of the following agents of Highways England.

Any person desiring to object or make representations to Highways England Company Limited’s proposal, should send, not later than the 10th September 2020, a written statement of his or her representation or objection and of the grounds thereof to the person and e-mail address at the bottom of this notice, quoting the reference HE/SE/A27/OVING CROSSROADS. Please note none of us currently attend the office on a regular basis to collect overland mail.
